Candidates receive several types of emails from career.place regarding their applications. Most importantly, the reminder email to complete their applications. These emails come from an account called support@career.place. The potential issue of using the career.place email is that it can sometimes end up in a junk folder or a candidate may not trust it.
We have an answer. Setup career.place emails so they come from your own company's domain to improve deliverability and keep them from getting into junk folders.
The steps required are easy and are to be done by your company's IT admin who has control over your domain (DNS settings) and your email accounts. Please share this page with them so they can implement this for your organization.
1. DNS setting changes
SPF Record
If you don't yet have an SPF record, add one for your domain. At a minimum, the value should be the following:
v=spf1 include:spf.mandrillapp.com ?all
If you already have a TXT record with SPF information, you'll need to add our email server to that record by adding include:spf.mandrillapp.com
in the record (before the last operator, which is usually ?all
, ~all
, or -all
).
DKIM Record
Add a new TXT record with the name mandrill._domainkey.yourdomain.com
(just replace yourdomain.com with your company's domain).
NOTE: Some DNS management tools automatically will add ".yourdomain.com" to the end of the record name you specify. In this case, you just need to specify "mandrill._domainkey" as the name. After adding this TXT record, confirm the record name doesn't look like "mandril._domainkey.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com"
The value for the record should be one of the options listed below. There are two options because the record contains semicolons, and some DNS providers escape semicolons for you while others require you to do it when setting up the record.
With semicolons escaped:
v=DKIM1\; k=rsa\; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCrLHiExVd55zd/IQ/J/mRwSRMAocV/hMB3jXwaHH36d9NaVynQFYV8NaWi69c1veUtRzGt7yAioXqLj7Z4TeEUoOLgrKsn8YnckGs9i3B3tVFB+Ch/4mPhXWiNfNdynHWBcPcbJ8kjEQ2U8y78dHZj1YeRXXVvWob2OaKynO8/lQIDAQAB\;
With semicolons unescaped:
v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCrLHiExVd55zd/IQ/J/mRwSRMAocV/hMB3jXwaHH36d9NaVynQFYV8NaWi69c1veUtRzGt7yAioXqLj7Z4TeEUoOLgrKsn8YnckGs9i3B3tVFB+Ch/4mPhXWiNfNdynHWBcPcbJ8kjEQ2U8y78dHZj1YeRXXVvWob2OaKynO8/lQIDAQAB;
2. Create new email account
Create a new email account (can be a shared email account as well) called either jobs@yourdomain.com or careers@yourdomain.com (just replace yourdomain.com with your company's domain). For that account, setup an auto-forward to support@career.place. If you are setting this up as a shared email account, just add support@career.place as a group member.
3. Contact career.place support that you are ready
Once you completed the above two steps, contact us at support@career.place and mention you'd like to get your email domain setup for your organization. Just let us know which email account you created in step 2.
And you'll be all setup.
